Whether you're onboarding customers in phases, managing complex sales deals, or planning intricate projects, Gantt charts offer a centralized, customizable view of your tasks. This new feature allows you to monitor progress, meet deadlines, and keep everything organized—all in one place.
How to Use the Gantt Chart Block in 3 Simple Steps
Step 1: Insert the Gantt Chart Block
Add a Gantt chart block to any Space or Template that includes at least one action plan.
Step 2: Link Action Plans
From the sidebar, select the action plan(s) you want to link to the Gantt chart. (Note: The Gantt chart mirrors an existing action plan, similar to our milestone block—it cannot function as a standalone block.)
Step 3: Assign Start and End Dates to Tasks
To display tasks on the timeline, assign start and end dates to each task:
Open a task.
Click on the due date field.
Enable "start dates" and use the date picker to define a date range by clicking twice.
Additional functionalities
Quick Access to Task Details
You don’t need to leave the Gantt chart to edit or check task details. Simply click on any task directly within the chart to open and modify it as needed.
Navigation
Use the navigation at the top-right corner of the Gantt chart to change views. You can switch between daily and weekly views, jump forward or backward to any date, and recenter the view to today. Additionally, you can expand or collapse all milestones to adjust the level of detail displayed.
Layout
In the layout settings, you can control whether milestones are expanded or collapsed by default. If you’re combining multiple action plans, you may prefer to display only milestones by default to reduce complexity.
Editing Permissions for Your Customers
The Gantt chart applies the same editing permissions you’ve set in the action plan. This means:
If customers have permission to complete tasks, assign team members, or change task dates in the action plan, they’ll also have those abilities in the Gantt chart.
If these permissions are disabled in the action plan, they will also be disabled in the Gantt chart.
This ensures consistency across your workflows while maintaining the permissions you’ve established.
Visibility
You can link to hidden action plans, such as when previewing them. However, in such cases users cannot open task details within the hidden action plan, and of course cannot navigate to the page where the action plan is located.
