Initiate the connection
Click on 'Connect my tools' after clicking on your profile picture in the Dashboard. All available integrations are displayed here.
Click on the 'Connect' button next to Salesforce. You will be redirected to the Salesforce login page. Simply log in with your Salesforce account. At this stage of the setup process, it should be completed by a Salesforce admin user.
In Valuecase, the blue 'Connect' button next to Salesforce will change to a green 'Connected' button once your Salesforce account is linked to Valuecase.
Configure the connection
As a Valuecase admin, navigate to 'API & Custom Apps Admin settings', click on 'Configure' next to Salesforce.
The Popup that appears allows you to configure multiple important aspects of the Salesforce connection. These Salesforce integration settings apply for the whole organization.
Object types to sync to
For each of the selected objects, custom properties and activities will be set up and Valuecase data synced to Salesforce.
You can select any of the 4 standard objects (Account, Case, Contact, Opportunity) as well as any custom object you created. Without an action, there is no sync of properties!
Integration set up user
‼️ important ‼️
Select the user that serves as the main integration user through which the integration is authenticated. Most likely, this is the user that completed the connection above and is a Salesforce admin. This user must have the necessary permissions to set up the integration: create custom fields, objects, and optionally set their field-level permissions (if profiles are selected).
(Optional) Integration sync user
By default, the integration will use the user who created a link to a Salesforce object to sync Valuecase data and activities to the linked object. If a sync user is specified here, the integration will use this user to sync data and activities to all linked objects. It's advised to use the same user as the integration user specified above to avoid sync errors due to missing permissions.
(Optional) Profiles to enable access to Valuecase fields and activities
The integration set up will add field-level access to the selected profiles for the custom fields and objects created. If no profiles are selected, the integration will not add field-level access to any profiles.
(Optional) Custom properties to sync
Select custom properties to set up and sync to Salesforce. These will be created as custom fields in Salesforce. Learn more about syncing Valuecase properties to Salesforce.
Important: to make use of the integration, every Valuecase user needs to initiate the connection once themselves. This simple article has all instructions.
